The Lamborghini Urus is an upcoming super-luxury sport utility vehicle. The name looks kind of awkward, especially for those who lack an Italian accent, but the Urus follows Lamborghini's typically aggressive naming convention: Like most Lamborghini vehicles, it's an homage to a type of bull, specifically, a breed from Spain. And even though there was a big announcement in January of 2014 about the Urus' official production schedule, Lamborghini first revealed the Urus (in concept form) at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show -- nearly two years earlier. Brand representatives said then they expected the Urus to sell at a rate of about 3,000 vehicles per year, although they hadn't yet made the definite decision to produce it. Lamborghini chose to reveal the Urus in China because, at the time, economists and auto industry experts predicted that by as early as 2015, demand for luxury sport utility vehicles in the Chinese market would grow by nearly 50 percent.
Helicopters and other types of aircraft could be extremely useful to future Mars exploration, especially if they're deployed in conjunction with robotic rovers on the planet's surface. First-graders. Second-graders print. Third-graders write. The fluid, fancy letters and words are a sign of growing up. It's how mommy writes. Of course, these days, it may not be how mommy writes. But the "rite of passage" aspect of learning cursive remains a fairly strong force in the 9-year-old crowd. It holds value as a longstanding component of the curriculum. Cursive writing changes with the times, so a third grader in the 1960s learned a different style from a third grader in 1990s. It tends to reflect cultural values. Eighteenth-century Puritans wrote a version that eliminated unnecessary frills. In the 19th century, American script was fluid and loopy. The 20th century found Americans writing a cursive form that was far more utilitarian. It becomes a bit harder to argue for cursive's obsolescence viewed through the window of cultural evolution. If cursive has no place, does that mean our culture has reached a point of such high-tech anonymity that variations in handwriting no longer matter?

However, the amount of video data increases exponentially and requires high efficiency video compression for storage and network transmission. Perceptually optimized video coding aims to exploit visual redundancies in videos so as to maximize compression efficiency. In this paper, we present a systematic survey on the recent advances and challenges on perceptually optimized video coding. Firstly, we present problem formulation and framework of perceptually optimized video coding, which includes visual perception modelling, visual quality assessment and perception guided coding optimization. Secondly, the recent advances on visual factors, key computational visual models and quality assessment models are presented. Thirdly, we do systematic review on perceptual video coding optimizations from four key aspects, which includes perceptually optimized bit allocation, rate-distortion optimization, transform and quantization, filtering and enhancement.
