D.C. police arrest two people in deadly fentanyl overdoses in Southwest Washington

FlatWire is thinner than the typical business card. You've seen the commercials: a guy walks into an electronics store, asks about the latest in flat-screen televisions, makes a purchase and hurries home. Before you know it, the happy owner is sitting on his couch watching his television, which he has mounted perfectly on the wall. There's not a cable, cord or wire to be seen. But in reality, that television would require several cables to work the way it does in the ad. It would need a power cord, at the very least. Other cords might include a coaxial cable, an HDMI cable, component or composite video cables and an audio cable. How do you hide all these cables from view so that you have the same picture-perfect setup that you see in commercials? That can be expensive and difficult -- you might want the help of professional installers for that kind of job. And while wireless technologies are a possible solution, there simply aren't enough wireless options on the market to set up the ultimate home theater system.
The role vitamins play in lowering cholesterol is unclear, but they do seem to be less effective as supplements than in their natural form. See more drug pictures. A healthy, balanced diet is the only way to get all the vitamins that may lower cholesterol. Such a diet -- low in saturated fat, trans fat, and cholesterol -- plus a lifestyle that includes regular physical activity and losing excess weight, form the basis for fighting heart disease. Yet, the battle being waged against the high-cholesterol plaques in the walls of your blood vessels is a complex one. The form that vitamins and minerals take -- in food or in supplements -- seems to be an especially important factor in determining their effectiveness in promoting heart health. There's no question that your food choices can influence your risk of disease, but it's possible that a variety of other compounds in foods -- such as fiber or phytonutrients -- may act in harmony with vitamins or minerals to enhance their health effects.|A sweat test measures the sodium. Chloride in a patient's perspiration. Salty sweat with high levels of chloride is a common sign of cystic fibrosis. View more men's health pictures. If you suspect a sweat test involves a grueling workout, then we've got news for you: This relatively simple test -- performed most often on children -- helps doctors diagnose cystic fibrosis (an inherited disorder marked by frequent lung infections) and has nothing to do with moving around. In fact, to perform the sweat test -- also known as an iontophoretic sweat test -- a person must sit relatively still. A medicated gel is applied to skin on the arm or leg. Then, via two insulated wires, a specialized machine sends mild electrical currents -- one positive, one negative -- to the medicated gel sites. The gel, along with the electrical current, helps stimulate sweat glands. Although testing isn't painful, it can be uncomfortable for children who don't like the tingling sensation caused by electrodes -- or who aren't accustomed to sitting still for very long.
To train the model, we inputted the RGB cuboids composed of the successive frames from the starting frame of the considered segment. The desired output is the class vector summing to one and binary at training time. Its length is the number of considered classes: 2 for detection and 20 for classification. Each element represents the probability of belonging to a class. During inference, we follow a similar procedure, and the class decision is the argmax of the output vector. The detection subtask was tackled as a classification task, considering the strokes and non-strokes samples. After 500 epochs, the model reached 98.3% and 75.7% of accuracy, respectively, on the train and validation sets. On the test set, the model is evaluated using the mAP metric. This metric takes into account the number of actions detected. Their overlapping with the ground truth. The baseline achieves an mAP of 0.0173, which the two participants of this subtask did not outperform.|An Apple AirTag was used to stalk a Sports Illustrated model. Thieves are placing AirTags on cars to track them home, where they can later be stolen. If you’re like me, you may have been freaked out by those recent headlines pushed your way. But since a lot of headlines can be overblown, I decided to experiment with an AirTag to see if the headlines are justified by tracking my wife and kids. In full disclosure: I’m an Android user. I’ve used Tile devices for sometime. When the headlines started to build recently, I heard Apple fans throw out whataboutisms by saying “Tile does it too! I dismissed Tile as being much of a threat since my experience with Tile was often about it not working more than it working. How can a technology that can’t find my misplaced portable SSD inside my home be used to track someone 20 miles away? Still, I decided to include a Tile Pro (a 2020 model with a new battery) and a shiny new AirTag in my testing.

Researchers at USC's Institute for Creative Technologies recently released a package of free tools designed to help gamers create highly-personalized avatars based on scans of their own faces and bodies. The technology works in concert with 3-D photo scanning programs like Skanect or KinectFusion. It uses a combination of tools to add skin, hair, clothing and other animation to a raw 3-D image. Gamers can then alter avatar bone structure, as well as height, weight, shoulders, waist size and other features. The tool realistically adjusts other parts of the body as this information is logged. Adding inches to a waist line, for example, will automatically increase chest size and direct the model to hunch over more. David Dodge is a video game designer. Producer who runs a computer programming boot camp for kids. He says the technology could have a “profound impact” on the gaming industry. “While some gamers will continue to develop avatars as alter-egos and fantastical characters," says Dodge, "there is a large audience who will enjoy bringing increased personalization to their gaming experience and who will love portraying their own identity in the game.” He adds that personalized avatars are likely to be a big hit in multiplayer games, where groups of friends all participate together. The USC program also empowers the avatars to run, jump and interact with objects within a game setting. The developers are currently fast at work on adding facial gesture capabilities to the package. The say users can already create. Animate a 3-D version of themselves in as little as four minutes. The term "avatar" comes from the the Sanskrit word for "descent," and is a religious term used in Hinduism and Sikhism to describe a deity's manifestation in the physical world.
