Russia’s Defense Ministry said Tuesday that six large landing ships were moving from the Mediterranean to the Black Sea, where they will take part in military exercises. The buildup of Russian troops in Belarus near Ukraine’s northern border continues too, for snap joint wargames. NATO’s chief had warned of high-end fighter jets and S400 missile systems were deployed to Belarus and now says that “enabling capacities” like command and control and logistics units as well as field medical centers are being set up. NATO as an organization is not providing military support to Ukraine and will not come to the rescue should Russia invade, but some individual countries are helping to support the Ukrainian armed forces.

Decarbonising the global economy by the middle of this century to avoid dangerous climate change cannot occur without a profound transformation of these companies’ fossil-fuel-based business models. In response, some energy companies have expressed plans to transition from fossil fuels to clean alternatives, but previous research suggests limited progress. A 12-year analysis of the companies BP, Chevron, ExxonMobil and Shell has revealed that their discourse and pledges related to transitioning to clean energy do not align with their business actions and investments. Mei Li and colleagues at Tohoku University, Japan, presented their findings in the open-access journal PLoS ONE this week.

Wi-Fi signals can be leveraged to expose video looping attacks on surveillance systems. However, it employs handcrafted event-level timing and frequency features from time-series Wi-Fi and camera signals, which leads to a long response time and cannot realize fine-grained forgery localization. Hence, none of existing approaches simultaneously satisfies real-time and fine-grained requirements of forgery detection and localization in video surveillance systems.
