A magazine called The Web used donations to fund the awards, which recognized sites in 15 categories. Around 700 people attended the first Webby Awards ceremony, which was held at a San Francisco nightclub. In 1998, The Web folded, and the newly formed International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences took over the Webby Awards. The Academy still exists today -- it's a voting body of Internet experts, business leaders and others. Its purpose is to recognize and encourage high-quality Internet content as well as to provide education and networking for technology professionals and the public. As with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, membership in the Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences is by invitation only. In 2000, about 3,000 people attended the awards ceremony at the San Francisco Opera House. By 2002, after the collapse of the bubble, the size of the production had shrunk dramatically -- about 600 people attended the event, which was more like a conference than a flashy awards show.
Poroshenko explained that the Russians have, since 2014, deployed and reorganized their forces in a way that will be able to support a rapid invasion both from the north and from east of Ukraine. In April, Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak also claimed that Russia "has massed 19 battalion tactical groups of the combat echelon and reserve forces with over 77,000 troops," adding that they have almost 1,000 tanks, 2,300 combat vehicles, over 1,100 artillery systems and about 400 multiple rocket launchers. According to Poltorak, 40,000 Russian troops, which he detailed as an integral part of the Southern Military District of the Russian Armed Forces, are stationed in the Donbas. Also according to Poltorak, in 2017 Russia's military forces shelled Ukrainian army positions in Donbas more than 15,000 times. There appears to be some internal disagreement on the exact number of Russian forces amassing on Ukraine. Turchynov also warned that the 260,000 Russian troops near the Ukrainian border are ready to advance with 3,500 tanks, 11,000 soft-skin vehicles, 4,000 artillery units, and over 1,000 multiple launch rocket systems.
Video conferencing lessons for schools can also ignite an interest. Enthusiasm for learning that traditional teaching methods sometimes can't. For instance, how often did your middle-school science class interact with astronauts at NASA? Yet students from California were able to take a close-up tour of a NASA facility with their school's video conferencing equipment. Such a field trip would have been impossible without video conferencing because of the distance and time involved. Sometimes it just helps to put a face with whatever you're learning. After completing a unit on the Sun, Earth and Moon, students in England got to do just that, interviewing a scientist from the London Science Museum. Students from Monkseaton Language College in England were equally excited when they got the chance to practice their language skills with students from a classroom in France. Of course, not all classroom video conferencing experiences are positive. The technology sometimes presents obstacles. If users aren't familiar with how to deal with such issues, the benefits of video conferencing education can be lost.
This is a lot of information to come from one fossil, which is why Leonardo has gotten lots of media attention. A Discovery Channel special called "Secrets of the Dinosaur Mummy" documents researchers' work with the fossil. And because of its remarkable state of preservation, Leonardo is recognized in the Guinness Book of World Records as the best preserved dinosaur. But Leonardo isn't just a media event -- it's also a major scientific discovery. Research is ongoing, so Leonardo may yield new information in the future. There aren't many mummified dinosaurs in the world. One, discovered by Charles Sternberg in 1908, is on display at the American Museum of Natural History. Another, known as Dakota, was discovered in 1999 and excavated in 2006. Like Leonardo, Dakota has well-preserved skin and has given scientists new information about its anatomy. For example, Dakota has more muscle tissue than expected, and its skin appears to be striped. How do scientists know what's inside dinosaur eggs? Can scientists clone dinosaurs? How do scientists determine the age of dinosaur bones? American Museum of Natural History. Judith River Dinosaur Institute. Carestream Health. But the battle isn't entirely about wireless devices anymore. Google isn't content with simply syncing smartphones -- the company wants to get its technology much deeper into the car. Android is not just for phones. In the Open Automotive Alliance's introductory press release, the group refers to the Android platform as an "ecosystem," not just once, but several times. This choice of phrase reveals a little about how they're thinking: Android is not just for phones and tablets anymore. The car, they say, is truly a "mobile device," which is the next logical step to show how everything that runs on Android is part of the same system and is designed to work together. Though smartphone integration is the most visible problem for Google and the Open Automotive Alliance, the group has other goals. Google wants automakers to think about using Android-based software to power vehicle infotainment systems -- the computers that control a car's numerous audio options, smartphone syncing, navigation systems, automatic climate controls, rear-seat DVD players and whatever else car designers come up with.|Creation of images using generative adversarial networks has been widely adapted into multi-modal regime with the advent of multi-modal representation models pre-trained on large corpus. Various modalities sharing a common representation space could be utilized to guide the generative models to create images from text or even from audio source. Departing from the previous methods that solely rely on either text or audio, we exploit the expressiveness of both modality. Based on the fusion of text and audio, we create video whose content is consistent with the distinct modalities that are provided. A simple approach to automatically segment the video into variable length intervals. Maintain time consistency in generated video is part of our method. Our proposed framework for generating music video shows promising results in application level where users can interactively feed in music source and text source to create artistic music videos.
