Humans have the right to assemble. Form peaceful associations with one another. In the United States, we're guaranteed certain rights by the Constitution, but what rights do we have just by being virtue of being human? Before we understand human rights organizations (HROs), we have to understand human rights. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, created after World War II as a framework for developing international human rights guidelines, is based on the idea that all people are born with the capacity for conscience and therefore deserve to be treated with dignity. We have the right to live and work where we choose, to marry and have families, to hold our own opinions and to be free from arbitrary attacks and arrests. We also have the right to our own religion and opinions, as well as the right to assemble and form peaceful associations with our fellow humans. Maybe these rights sound obvious, but it's a big deal to have a documented and widely accepted accord on just what it means to be a human.|I share what we know about the rapidly developing situation in Ukraine. There's been a shelling of a kindergarten yesterday, misreported as being caused by the rebels. False reporting in Russian media about the Ukrainians ? Ukrainians are committing a genocide. Do you really think that the Ukrainians would choose this moment, with 190000 soldiers at the border, to escalate the situation? All this behaviour is consistent with the playbook Russians have used before. The Ukrainians have shown great restraint. Russian troops have Ukraine surrounded, all around the border & black sea. We have reasons to believer that Russia will attack Ukraine in the coming week or even days.We are calling out Russia with the hope to deter their plans. USA & Allies prepared to defend every inch of NATO territory. We will continue to provide resources to the Ukrainians - e.g. javellins, loan guarantee to strengthen Ukrainian resilience. West is united to impose sanctions on Russia if the Ukraine is invaded. Russia can still choose diplomacy. Russia agreed that Labrov. US should meet on 24 February. If Russia takes action before this date, they will have chosen war and they will be sanctioned.
The administration, in its first tranche of sanctions Tuesday, moved to cut off Russia’s government from Western finance, sanctioning two banks and blocking it from trading debt on U.S. European markets. On Wednesday, Biden allowed sanctions to move forward against the company that built the Russia-to-Germany Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and against the company’s CEO. Nicholas Mulder, a professor of modern European history at Cornell University, says there are sometimes concrete measures of successful sanctions. He cited the restrictions on Iran’s growth, particularly from 2011 to 2015, when crude oil exports dropped by more than half. In April 2015, then-Treasury Secretary Jack Lew said Iran’s economy had shrunk by 20% due to sanctions, according to a Congressional Research Service report. That’s why sanctions are often imposed on individuals, not an entire economy. Psaki predicted that the initial round of sanctions “will have a significant impact on Russian leadership in the inner circle,” essentially cutting off their ability to tap into funds from state-owned banks that are being blocked from making transactions with the United States and Europe. Those banks, she said, were “some of the glorified piggy banks for the Kremlin” and included one where military finances have been held. She added that “no financial institution is safe” from further sanctions if the Russian government continues movement into Ukrainian territory. “The only indicator that matters is whether it deters Putin from further moves in Ukraine. Sanctions on this or that oligarch will have zero effect,” he said.
Fujitsu's Fabric PC concept. See more computer pictures. Imagine walking to school or work with a brand-new type of laptop computer in hand. You walk casually, swinging the laptop back and forth between your arms, which is easy, since it weighs well under one pound (0.45 kg) and isn't much thicker than a checkbook. Although it has no carrying case, you hardly blink after dropping it onto the concrete sidewalk. Instead you pick it up, dust it off, and continue on your way. When you arrive at your desk, you toss the laptop down on the table and open it up. The screen immediately unfolds, spreading out into an enormous display! While this scenario sounds very futuristic, it actually isn't that far from reality, thanks in part to a concept design called a Fabric PC (personal computer), produced by Fujistu, Inc. Amazingly, a Fabric PC won't be encased within a tough metal shell like the PCs that have been around up to this point.
Coffee, which is widely available and has few side effects, seems to transfer several protective properties to the liver. For example, one study found that people with hepatitis C had reduced liver damage when they drank more coffee. Other tests in people and animals suggested that coffee reduced the risk of liver cancer. At least some of these protective properties appear to halt the development of cirrhosis. Kennedy says in a Southampton University news release. And in other health-related coffee news, a high coffee intake - in this case, approximately six cups per day - has just been linked to a decreased risk for multiple sclerosis, according to new findings published yesterday in the Journal of Neurology Neurosurgery & Psychiatry. The Swedish study was observational in nature and found the coffee consumption could be associated with about a 30 percent decreased risk for the neurological disease, but that firm cause and effect could not be scientifically proven. The amount of coffee you can ingest without feeling jittery is all in your genes. An international group of scientists traced six genetic variants that regulate how much coffee consumption can take place before satisfaction turns into addiction.
This is important, because unlike the iPad and some other tablets, the Polaroid Tablet can't be outfitted with a wireless 3G or 4G modem to directly connect to the Internet. It's important to remember that the Polaroid Tablet isn't designed to compete with the iPad 3 and other high-end tablets, except on price. Another important thing to remember is that the Polaroid Tablet is a 7-inch (17.8-centimeter) class tablet, which means that its screen is about the size of an old-fashioned paperback novel. That relatively small space limits both how much your eyes can see, and how easily your fingers can manipulate the screen. As previously mentioned, the device runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS, which its maker says is optimized for small-screen devices. That makes it easy to do three or four things at once on your tablet, which is great for multitasking junkies. Ice Cream Sandwich also allows you to download and run scores of apps from the Android online app store, including both the Kindle and Google book readers, social networking apps such as Facebook and LinkedIn, and tons of games.
