When you subscribe, you'll get a feed -- often a series of headlines and brief summaries -- of all the articles published on that particular Web page.
But what if you wanted to know more about that a flu epidemic that's spreading through a nearby city? Google would like to help with that. As many as 72 percent of American adults admit they've looked up health information online in the past year - that's about 90 million people, mostly searching for information about specific conditions such as a cough or flu, or treatments such as antibiotics. Think about what kind of information is sitting in those search engine databases. Google Flu Trends (GFT) is an Internet-based influenza surveillance tool that uses aggregated search query data to predict flu trends in more than 25 countries, including the U.S. Google engineers used five years of historical big data - and we mean big. They tapped into their database of 50 million of the most commonly used prefiltered search queries to establish a baseline of general flu activity. The initial algorithm for the prediction tool relied solely on regional flu-related search query data (regional based on IP address), including overarching topics such as general influenza symptoms, cold remedies and antiviral medications.
Anyone with a computer or mobile phone connected to the Internet can immediately gain information by a mere click of few buttons, either it is about health news in Canada or a soccer game in Lanchester. Even, the Internet has also changed the method of reading employment news and finding employment. We all live in a particular region and need to stay updated with what all is going on in our respective locations, but now people have more interest about what are other important happenings in western countries, gulf countries and many more countries. There are many people who are eager to know current events or news from the far-flung corners of the globe. Usually, the events happening in a distant location can impact economies and various commodities over the long term. Using fossilized teeth, scientists have reconstructed the jaws of the megalodon and discovered that this shark's mouth was a staggering 7 feet (2 meters) in diameter. Based on this reconstruction and additional research, experts believe that this ancient shark had a broad, domed head with a short snout and massive jaws. If the latest reconstruction is accurate, paleontologists believe megalodon was wider than the great white with larger pectoral fins, and could have grown up to 45 to 60 feet (13.7 to 18.2 meters) in length -- about the size of a Greyhound bus. Because sharks are cold-blooded, each year they get growth rings on their vertebrae with the changing of the seasons, just as a living tree does. Experts can easily determine a megalodon's age at death by examining the centra and counting how many rings appear. The color and width of the rings also help determine growth rate; wide, light rings indicate a faster growth than narrow, dark rings.
