You can do so much more on a iPad than merely type! If you're an iPad user -- or perhaps thinking about becoming one -- you've probably considered the various ways the device can make your life a little more fun. Sure, you can read books, play games or watch movies, but what about using your iPad to organize your life? The market for personal productivity apps has positively exploded since the iPad first came on the market in 2010. App developers have seized on the iPad as a tool that's portable. Flexible enough to accomplish the many different things people need to get done on a daily basis. Look no further than this list of 10 iPad apps for personal productivity. The Notes Plus app for iPad ($4.99) is a great way to take notes in whatever form suits you best. Whether it's by hand, typing or audio recording, Notes Plus can accommodate you; it's even possible to switch from one method to another and back in one note-taking document.
Some of those safeguards include tamper-resistant tape over the machine's memory card slot, a lock over the memory card slot and the machine's battery, and the process of comparing the total votes on the memory card to the number of voters at polling place and to a voting record stored on the machine's hard disk (and to physical printouts if available). Machines are password protected and require special access cards for anyone to get to the memory card, and most polling places conduct background checks of election workers. Finally, the software on these machines automatically encrypts every vote that is cast. So, where does the problem come in? Experts point out lots of areas that need improvement, but as you can probably tell from the list of safeguards above, the memory card is considered to be the weakest point in the system. Princeton University computer-science professor Edward Felton and a couple of his graduate students got themselves one of the most common voting machines -- a Diebold AccuVote-TS -- and had their way with it.
President Joe Biden has said he will not fight Russia in Ukraine, nor would America's NATO allies. So a Russian invasion would not automatically trigger a wider war. But if Putin took his offensive beyond Ukraine's borders onto NATO territory, the United States could get drawn into it. That's because Washington is obliged by the North Atlantic Treaty to defend its allies, some of whom fear they are Russian targets. “Make no mistake. The United States will defend every inch of NATO territory with the full force of American power,” Biden said Tuesday. Beyond the seemingly unlikely scenario of Putin deliberately extending an invasion beyond Ukraine, there is a risk that even a limited war could spread as a result of an accident, a miscalculation or a misunderstanding. Once the fighting started, a bit of bad luck could lead to more conflict. An incident between American and Russian aircraft over the Mediterranean Sea that came to light Wednesday offered a glimpse at how even routine military movements can lead to unsafe results.
Independent filmmakers like Spike Lee often release new remastered versions of their films. Digital technology has not only allowed filmmakers and musicians to create inspiring new works of art, but it's also given audio engineers and film editors the chance to reach back and restore classic albums and movies to their original grandeur. Remastered CDs and DVDs promise consumers a crystal clear, artistically faithful reproduction of their favorite music and films. Led Zeppelin fans rush to the record store every time the band issues another "definitive" remastered collection of its pioneering rock albums of the 1960s and 70s. And companies like the Criterion Collection have created a market for painstakingly restored, high-definition DVD releases of classic, foreign and independent cinema from filmmakers like Jean-Luc Godard, Akira Kurosawa, and Spike Lee. Many listeners complain that remastering CDs, especially in the age of the MP3, is nothing but an excuse to make the music louder and overproduced.
What is their history together? While the two countries history stretches back centuries, present tensions effectively originate when the first independent Ukrainian state was declared in Kiev in 1917 following the collapse of the Russian and Austro-Hungarian empires towards the end of World War I. That independence was short lived though as it was invaded by Poland. Fought over between forces loyal either to the czar or the newly-established Bolshevik government. It was eventually swallowed up into the Soviet Union in 1922 at a time when its economy was in tatters. When Ukranian farmers refused to join the collective farms being established under Joseph Stalin in the 1930s, he stamped his tyrannical rule by orchestrating mass executions and starved millions of people to death. Stalin also imported millions of Russians. Other citizens in the Soviet Union to the region to help rebuild the country. Ukraine eventually became independent in 1991 with more than 90 percent voting to break away from the collapsing Soviet Union. But Russia has continued to meddle in the country’s affairs, most notably in the Ukraine’s 2004 presidential election when the Kremlin backed the pro-Russian candidate Viktor Yanukovych. The Crimea has become a flashpoint between the two countries. The move is still deeply unpopular with many Russians who still see the region as theirs. What happened in Crimea? On November 25, 2018 Russia captured three Ukrainian naval vessels which were sailing off the coast of Crimea. Russia opened fire, before special forces stormed the vessels. Ukraine said it was a Russian "act of aggression". Moscow said the ships had illegally entered its waters in the hotly-contested Kerch Strait.
