El Salvador declares ‘state of emergency’ as homicides soar, causing concern among human rights groups

It is composed of 300 water Cherenkov detectors (WCD). Each of them is a cylinder of 7.3 m in diameter and 4.5 m in height. POSTSUPERSCRIPT. They are equipped with 4 upward facing photomultiplier tubes (PMT), one 10” Hamamatsu R7081-HQE at the centre of the tank and three 8” R5912 halfway to the edges. 95%. Those two characteristics compensate the smaller instantaneous sensitivity compared to the imaging atmospheric Cherenkov technique, especially at the highest energies for which fluxes tend to be low. Around 10 TeV, the footprint on the ground produced by a gamma-ray shower is comparable to the size of the instrument. Therefore, most of the events triggering the instrument will fall outside the main array which makes the event reconstruction less accurate because of degeneracy between the core position and the energy of the shower. In order to improve the reconstruction of those events thus improving the instrument sensitivity, a sparse outrigger array of small tanks has been added around the main array.
Even with all this grim news, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's chief economist wrote in an April 16 blog post that the department's data indicated that "the U.S. agricultural market will remain well supplied and food will continue to be affordable." Even so, the still-escalating crisis clearly has put stress on the supply chain that normally enable foodstuffs to get from farm fields to Americans' dinner tables, and do it so efficiently that many of us probably barely even think about where our usual bountiful supply of fresh fruit, veggies, meats and countless varieties of pasta and breakfast cereal comes from. Even fast food giant Wendy's had to pull burgers and other beef dishes from the menus of nearly 1,000 of its restaurants because of a meat shortage, while Beyond Meat, the plant-based alternative to beef, reported skyrocketing first quarter sales increases of 141 percent. Additionally, as shutdown orders deter Americans from dining out, the surge in demand for food that can be prepared at home - and the difficulty of making it available to consumers while maintaining social distancing - has compelled grocery stores to revamp their way of doing business on the fly.
The High Altitude Water Cherenkov (HAWC) observatory is a very high energy gamma-ray detector located in Mexico. In late 2018, the HAWC collaboration completed a major upgrade consisting of the addition of a sparse outrigger array of 345 small water Cherenkov detectors (WCDs) surrounding the 300 WCDs of the main array and extending the instrumented area by a factor of 4. It provides an improved reconstruction of the showers whose core and footprint are not well contained in the array and increases the effective area in the range of a few TeV to beyond 100 TeV. This improvement in sensitivity will help to have a better understanding of the Galactic sources that accelerate particles up to the knee of the cosmic ray spectrum. In this contribution, we will show the current status, the performance, and the first results from the HAWC outrigger array. The High Altitude Water Cherenkov (HAWC) is a very-high-energy gamma-ray observatory located at 4100 m altitude on the volcano Sierra Negra in the state of Puebla in central Mexico.|A peaceful existence in a world buzzing with approximately 7 billion people is something that seems very tedious. With events happening every second everywhere across the globe, it is nothing but a necessity to be thoroughly updated to avoid unnecessary hassles. Tuning into current news everyday is something that a modern individual should include in his daily schedule. Happenings across the globe have a direct or maybe indirect effect on us. Thus one should be aware to ensure a serene existence. During emergencies, an individual should necessarily ensure that he has an efficient access to breaking news as it may assist in assuring personal safety. Latest news have become accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on account of a boom in telecommunication and satellite technologies. Daily newspapers and periodicals are one of the efficient and reliable sources of keeping the people informed of their surroundings. Across the globe, newspapers are available in every known language updating the people of current news and happenings and assisting in building an aware world.
What is the Society for Risk Analysis? The Society for Risk Analysis (SRA) is a multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, scholarly, international society that provides an open forum for all those who are interested in risk analysis. Risk analysis is broadly defined to include risk assessment, risk characterization, risk communication, risk management, and policy relating to risk, in the context of risks of concern to individuals, to public- and private-sector organizations, and to society at a local, regional, national, or global level. A focal point for new developments in the theory and practice of risk analysis for researchers and practitioners from a wide range of disciplines, including behavioral, biological, decision, economic, engineering, health, physical, and social sciences. SRA members are part of a growing and thriving community characterized by a shared commitment to excellence in risk analysis theory and practice. The diverse interests of members support a wide range of SRA specialty groups. The Advanced Materials and Technologies Specialty Group (AMTSG) works to further the risk analysis of many new and exciting materials and technologies currently being developed including the areas of additive manufacturing (e.g. 3D-printing), nanotechnology, bio-based and synthetic biology.
Distractors should be carefully examined when items show large positive D values. When one or more of the distractors looks extremely plausible to the informed reader and when recognition of the correct response depends on some extremely subtle point, it is possible that examinees will be penalized for partial knowledge. Thompson and Levitov (1985) suggested computing reliability estimates for a test scores to determine an item's usefulness to the test as a whole. The authors stated, "The total test reliability is reported first and then each item is removed from the test and the reliability for the test less that item is calculated" (Thompson & Levitov, 1985, p.167). From this the test developer deletes the indicated items so that the test scores have the greatest possible reliability. Developing the perfect test is the unattainable goal for anyone in an evaluative position. Even when guidelines for constructing fair and systematic tests are followed, a plethora of factors may enter into a student's perception of the test items.
