Electrotactile stimulation is a higher-tech method of receiving somewhat similar (although more surprising) results, and it's based on the idea that the brain can interpret sensory information even if it's not provided via the "natural" channel. The brain then recreates the images from analysis of the impulse patterns. The multiple channels that carry sensory information to the brain, from the eyes, ears and skin, for instance, are set up in a similar manner to perform similar activities. All sensory information sent to the brain is carried by nerve fibers in the form of patterns of impulses, and the impulses end up in the different sensory centers of the brain for interpretation. To substitute one sensory input channel for another, you need to correctly encode the nerve signals for the sensory event and send them to the brain through the alternate channel. The brain appears to be flexible when it comes to interpreting sensory input. You can train it to read input from, say, the tactile channel, as visual or balance information, and to act on it accordingly.
Since 2013, the VCEG and MPEG gather together again and found the Joint Collaborative Team (JCT-VC) to standardize the HEVC for UHD video, which doubles the compression ratio as compared with H.264/AVC. Meanwhile, the 3D, scalable and screen content coding extensions were investigated for specific video applications. Beyond HEVC, VVC (Bross et al., 2021a) was under investigation since July 2018, which targets to 8K UHD video and beyond. In China, Audio Visual Standard (AVS) workgroup was established and devoted efforts to develop coding standards since 2003, which standardized AVS-1/2/3 (Zhang et al., 2019a). In the past three decades, many advanced coding technologies have been developed to improve the compression efficiency. However, the compression ratio becomes saturated. A little further improvement may require extremely high cost or complexity, which is more challenging than ever. To compress the video more effectively, perceptual optimized video coding is one of the most promising directions, which tends to exploit visual properties of Human Vision System (HVS) and minimizes the visual redundancies in videos.
In this document we will focus in the description of the silicon-tungsten electromagnetic calorimeter, SiW-ECAL, technological prototype and its performance in beam test. The design and R&D of this prototype is conducted by CALICE and it is oriented at the baseline design of the ILD ECAL. POSTSUBSCRIPT of thickness (in the barrel region) and it uses silicon (Si) as active material and tungsten (W) as absorber material. The combination of Si and W for the construction of the detector allows the construction of a very compact calorimeter made up of compact active layers with small cell size (high granularity) in the transverse and longitudinal planes. It will consist of an alveolar structure of carbon fiber into which the slabs made up of tungsten plates and active sensors will be inserted. The very-front-end (VFE) electronics will be embedded in the slabs. The silicon sensors will be segmented in squared cells of 5x5 mm, featuring a total of ?100similar-toabsent100sim 100? 100 million channels for the ECAL of the ILD.|The baby showers are planned, the list of potential names chosen, the nursery painted.
