Third, sound is a vibration that travels through a medium, like a gas, a liquid or a solid object. A sound's source is an object that moves or changes shape very rapidly. For example, if you strike a bell, the bell vibrates in the air. As one side of the bell moves out, it pushes the air molecules next to it, increasing the pressure in that region of the air. This area of higher pressure is a compression. As the side of the bell moves back in, it pulls the molecules apart, creating a lower-pressure region called a rarefaction. The bell then repeats the process, creating a repeating series of compressions and rarefactions. Each repetition is one wavelength of the sound wave. The sound wave travels as the moving molecules push. Pull the molecules around them. Each molecule moves the one next to it in turn. Without this movement of molecules, the sound could not travel, which is why there is no sound in a vacuum.
The High Altitude Water Cherenkov (HAWC) observatory is a very high energy gamma-ray detector located in Mexico. In late 2018, the HAWC collaboration completed a major upgrade consisting of the addition of a sparse outrigger array of 345 small water Cherenkov detectors (WCDs) surrounding the 300 WCDs of the main array and extending the instrumented area by a factor of 4. It provides an improved reconstruction of the showers whose core and footprint are not well contained in the array and increases the effective area in the range of a few TeV to beyond 100 TeV. This improvement in sensitivity will help to have a better understanding of the Galactic sources that accelerate particles up to the knee of the cosmic ray spectrum. In this contribution, we will show the current status, the performance, and the first results from the HAWC outrigger array. According to the Global Land-Ocean Temperature Index Graph from NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, the Earth's temperatures have steadily been on the rise since the 1880s. Between 1880 and 2012, the average temperature of both land and water around the world rose by 1.53 degrees Fahrenheit (0.85 degrees Celsius). The thunderstorms that spawn tornadoes require a few key ingredients to rev up, including warm, moist air and wind shear (wind shear refers to varying wind velocities occurring at a right angle to the wind's direction, causing rotation). As climate change causes the planet to warm, the amount of moisture in the atmosphere will increase as well, lending more energy to thunderstorm formations. However, one of the elements that helps tornadoes form -- wind shear -- will probably decrease as a result of a warmer planet. This give-and-take between more storm energy and less wind shear has scientists scratching their heads, unable to completely predict whether tornadoes will become more powerful and/or more frequent in the future. One possible outcome is that the frequency and power of thunderstorms with high winds will increase, but we may experience fewer tornadoes. It's also possible that the regions that have historically witnessed the most tornadoes will shift, creating a new Tornado Alley. What technologies have made search and rescue easier? Just like the Adbusters post and Anonymous video that sparked online conversations about how, where and when to start a mass demonstration against economic power players, the Tumblr blog infused the political with the personal, providing human context for the protest. But offline, who are the people who have shown up for the Occupy Wall Street movement? Additionally, Occupy Wall Street isn't comprised of self-identifying Democrats. In its early phases, the protest also attracted influential support -- particularly that of labor unions. Occupy Wall Street's demands for better jobs, wages and benefits for middle- and low-income America resonated within the employee advocacy groups that have historically battled and negotiated with businesses and corporations on behalf of their "99 percent" members. Now that we know who, for the most part, makes Occupy Wall Street tick, how does this long-term protest movement work?

But former presidents also receive a pension that is equal to the annual salary for cabinet secretaries; in 2017, that amount was $207,800. But that's not all. The FPA also provides former U.S. Fox News reported that in 2017, former President Barack Obama was approved for $536,000 for office space in D.C., while Bill Clinton received $518,000 for his New York City office and George W. Bush got $497,000 for his space in Dallas.S. Congress, annual pay is pretty cut and dry: Salary for most is $174,000 per year (though those in leadership positions like the Speaker of the House make more).
