Opinion : The man known as ‘Putin’s brain’ envisions the splitting of Europe — and the fall of China

First, gravity is a force that causes objects to attract one another. The simplest way to understand gravity is through Isaac Newton's law of universal gravitation. This law states that every particle in the universe attracts every other particle. The more massive an object is, the more strongly it attracts other objects. The closer objects are, the more strongly they attract each other. An enormous object, like the Earth, easily attracts objects that are close to it, like apples hanging from trees. Scientists haven't decided exactly what causes this attraction, but they believe it exists everywhere in the universe. Second, air is a fluid that behaves essentially the same way liquids do. Like liquids, air is made of microscopic particles that move in relation to one another. Air also moves like water does -- in fact, some aerodynamic tests take place underwater instead of in the air. The particles in gasses, like the ones that make up air, are simply farther apart and move faster than the particles in liquids.
You probably know that wine is made through a fermentation process in which yeast converts the sugar in grape juice into alcohol. If grapes don't get enough sun, they can be low in sugar and yield a tart, acidic wine. Less expensive German wines get around this problem by allowing the fermentation process to convert what sugar there is in the grape juice to alcohol. Then, they add back a little unfermented grape juice from the same varietal to achieve more sweetness and less bite. It's a clever solution called sussreserve, German speak for "sweet reserves." The Germans call wines made using this method lieblich or "gentle" because they're light, definitely sweet and somewhat fruity. Look for this term in the description on the bottle. Many imported mass market German wines are made this way. On the other end of the scale, you'll find the naturally sweet wines that grow through the (hopefully) warm fall months on the best German vineyards.|Amid its standoff with Russia, Ukraine is facing a threat on two fronts: land and cyberspace. On land, the country continues to see a buildup of Russian troops near its borders, but there has been no aggression around possible entry points like Senkivka, a border crossing that Global News visited this week. In cyberspace, Ukraine has already fought off many attacks, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said, but it has also seen government websites hacked, adding further unease in east Europe. “There’s without a doubt that if an invasion occurs, Russia will have a cyber component to it (and) at this point, it’s a matter of debate on exactly how it’s going to look,” said Alexander Rudolph, a cyber-defence expert and PhD candidate in the department of political science at Carleton University. “We haven’t seen what’s possible yet. For weeks, Western nations have been trying to negotiate an agreement with Russia to ease the tensions with neighbouring Ukraine. Moscow has stationed more than 100,000 troops near Ukraine while talks continue, and has rejected Western accusations it’s planning to invade.
The term got another workout when some of the coldest temperatures in a generation hit the U.S. The polar vortex actually is a seasonal atmospheric phenomenon, a system of strong, high-level winds -- called the jet stream -- surrounding an extremely cold pocket of Arctic air. The problem, though, is that once in a while, the polar vortex breaks down a little. In this article, we'll explain more about what the polar vortex is, and why it sometimes fluctuates. What Happens When the Polar Vortex Becomes Distorted? Is the Polar Vortex Affected by Climate Change? How Does the Polar Vortex Work? This satellite image shows the entry of a large area of low pressure from the polar vortex into the northern U.S. If you were looking at it from the side, it starts roughly around the border of the troposphere, the lowest level of the Earth's atmosphere and the region where our weather takes place -- and the stratosphere, the next atmospheric layer that begins at about 12 miles (20 kilometers) in altitude and contains the ozone that protects Earth from too much solar radiation.
To do this, we'll need to understand how current laptops are structured. Basically, the laptops with which we're all familiar consist of many individual components, each fixed within a metal frame. The entire structure opens. Closes like a book. Not only does a traditional laptop's metal frame form a rigid shell, but most of its internal components are bulky and rigid, too. The largest of these components is the screen, or display. There are several different types of modern computer displays, each built with different technologies, but most of today's displays are inflexible, bulky and surprisingly fragile. The hard disk drive, used to store memory, is another large and rigid component of a traditional laptop. The list continues and includes many other components you're probably familiar with, such as the CD/DVD drive and the battery. There are at least three main components to the Fabric PC design that will allow this to happen. First of all, the computer display will be constructed from a cutting-edge technology called e-paper, allowing the display screen to be paper-thin and bendable.
After nearly a century of debate and conflict between business and labor, the act served to end the incredibly long workdays and weeks of the Industrial Revolution. But after 70 years under the FLSA, the American worker is actually working more again. With three extra days of leisure time, Americans could conceivably engage in all sorts of higher pursuits. The 5DW also suggests more time off would result in higher productivity and job satisfaction. For the organization's vision to work, however, employees would have to complete five days of work in just two days, and employers would have to pay based on productivity, rather than hours. Parkinson's Law is an "unnatural law" like Murphy's Law and the Peter Principle -- these are observations, not actual laws of nature. Parkinson's Law is hardly scientific, yet anyone given a week to complete a one-day job is most likely familiar with its validity. The 5DW also claims that the technology available to Americans is more than sufficiently advanced to allow them to work less.|The Kremlin said rebels in eastern Ukraine asked Russia for military assistance Wednesday to help fend off Ukrainian “aggression,” an announcement that immediately fueled fears that Moscow was offering up a pretext for war, just as the West had warned. A short time later, the Ukrainian president rejected Moscow’s claims that his country poses a threat to Russia and said a Russian invasion would cost tens of thousands of lives. “The people of Ukraine and the government of Ukraine want peace,” President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an emotional overnight address to his nation in Russian. “But if we come under attack, if we face an attempt to take away our country, our freedom, our lives and lives of our children, we will defend ourselves. Zelenskyy said he asked to arrange a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin late Wednesday, but the Kremlin did not respond. “Any provocation, any spark could trigger a blaze that will destroy everything,” he said. The United Nations Security Council quickly scheduled an emergency meeting Wednesday night at Ukraine’s request.
