By the end of the century, economic losses due to climate change could rival the Great Recession - and much of it won't be recoverable, considering we won't be able to reverse the physical damage done. Maybe worst of all, the economic fallout will be especially hard on those who can handle it least - the country's poor. He and his colleagues analyzed the real-world cost of climate change in six sectors of the American economy - agriculture, crime, coastal storms, energy, human mortality and labor - to come to their conclusions. The Climate Impact Lab has presented its findings in an interactive map that allows users to view predictions up to the end of the 21st century. Some counties, especially those facing sea change along the Gulf Coast, could lose more than 20 percent of their wealth as agriculture suffers, storms batter homes and people lose their livelihoods - and in some cases, their lives.
Also, researchers have yet to accurately delineate between heavy and casual cell phone users. Without more accurate data, study results can't be fully trusted. The agency states that research hasn't proven any adverse health effects but also notes that it can't rule out the possibility that they may come to light in the future. Cell phone sales indicate that the public isn't terribly concerned, either. As for Ashok Agarwal at the Cleveland Clinic, his studies on cell phones and sperm have only begun. In the meantime, if men are worried that Agarwal will prove his theory right, they don't have to ditch their mobiles. Rather, Agarwal encourages men to remove phones from their pockets while talking into mobile headsets. In addition, keep conversations short when reception is low, since the phone has to work harder to snag a signal. And finally, don't believe every headline that touts the indisputable safety or danger of cell phones.
