To address these problems, Recycle-GAN (Bansal et al. 2018) introduces spatiotemporal consistency constraint that utilizes temporal information in videos to regularize the temporal consistency in the translation, and is widely adopted by subsequent works. Practically, the temporal information is obtained from the estimated motions between temporally adjacent frames to synchronize motions before and after the translation, thereby enforcing cyclic spatiotemporal consistency. Meanwhile, semantic consistency is also improved when temporally contextual factors are incorporated as additional spatial smoothing. As a result, generators are guided to perform temporally and semantically consistent video translation at the same time. Intuitively, the effect of regularization of the spatiotemporal consistency greatly relies on the accuracy of motion estimation. However, most existing works fail to accurately estimate motion and therefore weaken the benefits of the regularization. P in Recycle-GAN (Bansal et al. 2018), as illustrated in Figure 1(a), and the optical flow estimators in (Chen et al. 2019; Park et al. 2019), as illustrated in Figure 1(b), are very likely to make inaccurate estimations of the motions due to capacity limitation of the models or domain gap problems.
His skin and internal organs lasted long enough to turn to stone. This turned Leonardo into one of a handful of mummified dinosaur fossils. This rarity made studying the fossil without destroying it extremely important. The team used a digital imager to take more than 40 X-rays of Leonardo's head and body. This gave the team a glimpse of what was inside. But to get enough definition of the rock-on-rock organs to really see what went where, the researchers needed a more powerful radiation source than they could use in their building. They took Leonardo to a hangar at Johnson Space Center Ellington Field in Houston, Texas. That's when Leonardo got its $2.5-million insurance policy. At the Ellington Field facility, researchers used highly radioactive isotopes to get a look at the structures deep within Leonardo's body. All these X-rays have added up to a life-size, 3-D view of Leonardo's organs. Leonardo is so well-preserved that researchers have even figured out what it ate.
Imagine a fly buzzing through the air; it's zipping along just fine until it encounters a strong headwind. Suddenly, our speedy, little fly feels quite heavy. So it would be with our particles when they slogged through the Higgs field. Of course, physicists weren't exactly looking for some sort of universal maple syrup that we'd all been swimming in without noticing. Rather they were searching for particles that might make up a Higgs field, and they thought their search might be successful if they could just recreate the conditions right after the Big Bang. The Large Hadron Collider is like a NASCAR track for swarms of racing protons (and some heavy ions, too). When they do collide, the composite particles spray out into their smaller parts -- quarks and leptons. The energy that's created can allow us to see really, really heavy particles created in the collision. Here's where we start to "see" things like the Higgs boson.
Tiny lasers send light directly into the fiber. Low-loss connectors may be used to join fibers within the system without reducing the light signal. Such connectors also join fibers to the detector. Multi-mode fibers are designed to carry multiple light rays. They have much larger core diameter compared to those of single-mode fibers, and they accept light from a variety of angles. Multi-mode fibers use more types of light sources. Cheaper connectors than single-mode fibers. They are mostly used for communication over shorter distances. The uses of optical fibers are numerous. In medicine, optical fibers enable physicians to look and work inside the body through tiny incisions without having to perform surgery. They are used for endoscopesinstruments for viewing the interior of hollow organs in the body. Most endoscopes have two sets of fibers: an outer ring of incoherent fibers that supplies the light, and an inner coherent bundle that transmits the image. Endoscopes may be designed to look into specific areas.
It’s a natural part of living in the information age: You start to feel sick, so you Google your symptoms. Both the common cold and the flu will make you feel miserable, and because both are respiratory infections with similar symptoms - coughing, aching, headache, you know the drill - it can be difficult to know which one has you in its grip. Every year, anywhere from five to 20 percent of the U.S. While many sufferers will find relief in over-the-counter medicines, influenza can be serious. Influenza-related complications may require hospitalization, and sometimes complications can be fatal. Influenza, together with pneumonia (both are lower respiratory infections), ranked as the eighth leading cause of death in the U.S. For its tracking purposes, the CDC considers a fever of at least 100 degrees Fahrenheit (37.8 degrees Celsius) with a cough and/or a sore throat to be an ILI. Beginning on the 40th week of the year - which is the beginning of the October to May flu season - the CDC distributes weekly influenza activity reports.
