Independent filmmakers like Spike Lee often release new remastered versions of their films. Digital technology has not only allowed filmmakers and musicians to create inspiring new works of art, but it's also given audio engineers and film editors the chance to reach back and restore classic albums and movies to their original grandeur. Remastered CDs and DVDs promise consumers a crystal clear, artistically faithful reproduction of their favorite music and films. Led Zeppelin fans rush to the record store every time the band issues another "definitive" remastered collection of its pioneering rock albums of the 1960s and 70s. And companies like the Criterion Collection have created a market for painstakingly restored, high-definition DVD releases of classic, foreign and independent cinema from filmmakers like Jean-Luc Godard, Akira Kurosawa, and Spike Lee. Many listeners complain that remastering CDs, especially in the age of the MP3, is nothing but an excuse to make the music louder and overproduced.
Some users say e-cigs have helped reduce their "smoker's cough," sharpened their senses of taste and smell, and even improved their sleep. The electronic cigarette was invented by Chinese pharmacist Hon Lik, who patented the device in 2003 and introduced it to the Chinese market the following year. Numerous companies are now selling e-cigarettes to customers around the world. But as e-cigarette smoking -- or "vaping" as it's sometimes called -- has grown in popularity, some have concerns about its safety, including the possibility that the vapor created by the devices contains dangerous chemicals. Is the electronic cigarette a cleaner, healthier choice for smokers? Or is it a dangerous device with hidden risks? Both viewpoints have their merits, but on the next page we'll start with the basics: how the product works, and why it's popular. Lighting a traditional cigarette causes the tobacco to burn, releasing smoke that contains nicotine. The user breathes in the smoke to deliver nicotine to the lungs.|Let's face it: People are bad drivers. We zoom around, talking (or texting) on our cell phones, yelling at the kids in the back, fiddling with the radio and generally thinking about anything but the road. Because people are such bad drivers, we know car safety is important. That's why car companies develop things like traction control, anti-roll systems and airbags in concert with the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration and the insurance industry. It's also why they work with the Defense Department to develop unmanned vehicles that can carry weapons and navigate war zones. You might be thinking that automotive safety is about things like airbags and seat belts, not missiles and drones. And while traffic can be bad, it's not exactly a war zone out there. But a key part of automotive safety is preventing accidents, and one of the best ways to do that is to take drivers out of the equation.
You notice that the fish that were so calming have beat a hasty exit; it's now just you, the other divers and the looming shadows circling ever closer. Five blacktip reef sharks swim into your view, and your heartbeat, so calm only a moment ago, is raging in your ears as the sharks slowly weave themselves among your group of divers. Their movement is smooth and fluid, so you know they are at ease with you and the other humans, and they seem curious about these visitors to their home. You are diving with sharks, an activity that's quickly becoming popular with more than just the thrill seekers. In fact, diving with sharks has become a massive business around the world. In the following pages, we'll see the different ways you can dive with sharks, what sorts of sharks you might find and the dangers that come along with submerging yourself with these predators of the deep. Read on to find out about most popular way to dive with sharks: cage diving.
Agreeing with the U.S. British government spokesperson said Britain was working on a package of military support. Economic aid for Ukraine to be announced in coming days. Prime Minister Boris Johnson will make a trip to Europe later this week to build support to end the standoff with Russia. Biden told Putin in a phone call on Saturday that the West would respond decisively to any invasion and such an attack would harm and isolate Moscow. Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov said on Twitter that Kyiv had so far received almost 1,500 tonnes of ammunition from allies delivered on 17 flights, including about 180 tonnes from the United States. Canada's defense ministry said it has temporarily withdrawn its Ukraine-based military personnel to an undisclosed location in Europe. The Kremlin said Putin told Biden during their call on Saturday that Washington had failed to take Russia's main concerns into account, and that it had received no "substantial answer" on key elements of its security demands.
Morris analyzed repetition not just of individual words but also repeated lyrical sequences. Using a three-year rolling average, he found that repetition in song writing is most definitely on the rise, and recently reached its peak in 2014, with an average tune from that year compressing 22 percent more efficiently than one from 1960. Poke around on Morris' findings and you can search his visualized data by artist, decade and genre. Who are the repetition culprits? Pop artists like Beyonce, Michael Jackson, Madonna and One Direction ranked high, though Rihanna ruled supreme thanks to all of her hard work, work, work, work, work. Arists like Ray Charles, Connie Francis, Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra ranked low for repetition. Not on the list? Roy Orbison, pictured here in 1964, was one of the least repetitive lyricists in the analysis of pop tunes. The world's first pop song created entirely using artificial intelligence is a little ditty called "Daddy's Car," which will probably make Beatles fans throw up in their mouths a little bit.
