Germany urges reduced gas consumption, Poland to halt Russian oil imports

You can watch the following animation to learn more about the basics of sound. Click the arrow to move on to the next slide. Acoustic levitation uses sound traveling through a fluid -- usually a gas -- to balance the force of gravity. On Earth, this can cause objects and materials to hover unsupported in the air. In space, it can hold objects steady so they don't move or drift. The process relies on of the properties of sound waves, especially intense sound waves. We'll look at how sound waves become capable of lifting objects in the next section. A basic acoustic levitator has two main parts -- a transducer, which is a vibrating surface that makes sound, and a reflector. Often, the transducer and reflector have concave surfaces to help focus the sound. A sound wave travels away from the transducer. Bounces off the reflector. Three basic properties of this traveling, reflecting wave help it to suspend objects in midair.|Ukraine is the largest country that is entirely within Europe. The country sits on the southwestern part of the Russian Plain and has a largely low terrain. The average elevation of the land is only 574 ft (175 m). As observed on the physical map of Ukraine above, about 5% of the country is mountainous. The northern reaches of the Carpathian Mountains stretch across western Ukraine. The country's highest point is located there; Hoverla Mountain, at 2061 m (6762 ft) tall. It has been marked on the map above by a yellow upright triangle. As can be seen on the map above, the southern lowland of Ukraine continues into the Crimean Peninsula, a peninsula jutting into the sea from southern Ukraine via the Perekop Isthmus. It is a disputed territory. The Crimean Mountains front the southern edges of the Crimean Peninsula, and some lower, heavily-eroded mountains extend into Russia just north of the Sea of Azov. Much of central Ukraine is covered by plateaus and fertile plains (steppes), somewhat hilly areas of grasslands and shrublands. The Black Sea Coastal Lowlands cover the southern edges of the country. Ukraine is bordered by the waters of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov. Major rivers include the Desna, Dnieper, Dniester, Donets and the Southern Bug. Numerous waterfalls are found in both the Carpathian and Crimean Mountains. The Dnieper River, one of the major rivers of Europe (fourth by length) flows from Russia, through Belarus and Ukraine, to the Black Sea. The river's total length is 2,285 km (1,420 mi).
A blind woman sits in a chair holding a video camera focused on a scientist sitting in front of her. She has a device in her mouth, touching her tongue, and there are wires running from that device to the video camera. The woman has been blind since birth and doesn't really know what a rubber ball looks like, but the scientist is holding one. And when he suddenly rolls it in her direction, she puts out a hand to stop it. The blind woman saw the ball. Well, not exactly through her tongue, but the device in her mouth sent visual input through her tongue in much the same way that seeing individuals receive visual input through the eyes. In both cases, the initial sensory input mechanism -- the tongue or the eyes -- sends the visual data to the brain, where that data is processed and interpreted to form images.
While your information is being verified, the robot waits patiently near the fuel door. A Dalek-like arm with a little suction cup on the end pops open the fuel door. The Rotec machines are a bit older, so another Dalek-like arm with a little claw spins the gas cap off. The Fuelmatics system takes advantage of the capless "flapper-like solution," as Corfitsen called it, that some auto manufacturers are using now. If your tank still has a cap, Fuelmatics will also give you a "speed fuel cap" that works with their machines. Now it's time for the gas to get in the tank. In the Fuelmatics system, two cameras locate the exact location of the fuel pipe. Corfitsen. "It was too difficult for the motorist to get the transponder in the right position." No kidding. We can't even back the car up without a camera. Colored guidelines on a screen anymore.
Another option is an audible alarm voltage detector. These are also known as volt ticks or probes. These detectors make a sound when they find a live wire. Volt probes commonly utilize sharp pins that can be stuck into electrical outlets or breakers. Another type uses circuit-sensing clamps that can be placed over wiring insulation. Any type of voltage detector is a crucial tool when working with electricity, as they will allow you to verify that the circuit is working correctly, or verify that it's been turned off before making modifications to the wiring. Probes can also be paired with an electronic voltmeter to give exact data for current draw and resistance. If you have a tangle of wire and can't figure out which goes where, you can also use a tone generator to help you identify which wire is which. The tone generator consists of two devices: One that sends out a high frequency signal, and a receiver made to detect that same signal.
An emboldened Russia in Europe, or the perception of it, will further strengthen its hand in Syria, where it has supported President Bashar Assad and kept him in power for the last decade. An emboldened Russia in Europe, or the perception of it, will further strengthen its hand in Syria, where it has supported President Bashar Assad and kept him in power for the last decade. This is happening against the backdrop of what many Arab analysts see as a U.S. There are simply more reasons, and opportunities, to lean more strongly toward Russia in the eyes of many Arab governments. Egyptian author Tarek Osman noted that Russia has “been trying to fill some of the void,” left by decreased U.S. “in the Eastern Mediterranean and the most volatile parts of North Africa,” as well as “in some of the circles related to the security of the Gulf,” including closer cooperation between Russia, Saudi Arabia, and with the United Arab Emirates.
