But one company has another alternative: wires that are flat instead of round. The company is Southwire. It specializes in creating thin, flat wires and cables that you can glue to a wall and either paint over or coat with a concealing material to blend it into your wall. Once you've installed and concealed the FlatWire, you can have that clean, cable-free look that you see in the advertisements. Southwire currently offers several FlatWire products for audio, video, data and low-voltage wiring solutions. Future FlatWire products will include 120-volt alternating current (VAC) electrical wiring, HDMI cables and a cat-6 cable emulator. All of the products are flexible. Are about as thick as a sheet of paper. FlatWire comes in several different types. The speaker wire and low-voltage wire products look like a pair of copper strips encased in a transparent film. The other FlatWire products have narrower bands of copper encased in film. Depending on the wire's function, there may be one, two or three separate bands of copper.
Imagine having to do the work of a jackhammer using a sledgehammer or a pickaxe, and you'll quickly understand how important this one machine is to the construction industry. Concrete, asphalt and rock are hard -- sometimes really hard -- to work with. Thanks to that toughness, roads and building foundations last for decades. But when rebuilding or mining projects require removing these unyielding substances, a sledgehammer just isn't enough. That's when jackhammers come in handy. T-shaped jackhammers are among the most iconic, fearsome and ear-shattering tools on construction and demolition sites. Because they combine two fundamental human hand tools (a hammer and a chisel) in one mechanized body, they are also one of the most useful. We could always go back to the old way -- using heavy-headed sledgehammers -- but there probably aren't enough chiropractors in the world to keep construction workers' backs aligned. Plus, sledgehammers are achingly slow.
As it approached its PS4 project, Sony decided to counter (and capitalize) on smartphone and tablet developments. It promised to adhere to five principles: be simple, be immediate, be social, be integrated and be personalized. Here's just one example of those ideas coming to fruition. The newly designed PS4 controllers all come with a Share button. Press it, and you can immediately broadcast your in-game action to your friends on the PlayStation Network. Those friends can watch your triumphs. Send you words of encouragement right on your screen. And when you bomb repeatedly at a difficult point of the game, they can even step in and play for you. What's more, you and your friends can record clips yourselves playing and then easily share your glorious successes or humiliating defeats. That's just one flourish in what Sony hopes will be a console experience masterpiece. But as with all console systems, it all begins, of course, with hardware. And as you're about to see, the PS4 is less of a traditional gaming box and more of a personal computer.
The role vitamins play in lowering cholesterol is unclear, but they do seem to be less effective as supplements than in their natural form. See more drug pictures. A healthy, balanced diet is the only way to get all the vitamins that may lower cholesterol. Such a diet -- low in saturated fat, trans fat, and cholesterol -- plus a lifestyle that includes regular physical activity and losing excess weight, form the basis for fighting heart disease. Yet, the battle being waged against the high-cholesterol plaques in the walls of your blood vessels is a complex one. The form that vitamins and minerals take -- in food or in supplements -- seems to be an especially important factor in determining their effectiveness in promoting heart health. There's no question that your food choices can influence your risk of disease, but it's possible that a variety of other compounds in foods -- such as fiber or phytonutrients -- may act in harmony with vitamins or minerals to enhance their health effects.
Good design doesn't necessarily mean high-end and fancy. Sometimes it's just a matter of making sure you meet human needs. See more home design pictures. Good design doesn't have to be froufrou. It can be simple and useful in its beauty, making use of natural elements. Often it's a matter of looking to things that are important to you apart from conventional ideas and to what the idea of home means to you and your family. Poor planning and small budgets can lead to design mistakes, but often flaws become apparent as newer and better ways of home planning and construction come into favor. If you find some of these problems in your home, take heart. You're not alone, and there are ways to resolve the situation. Carpenters and handymen have been around for thousands of years, and many do-it-yourself experts learned about home improvement while coming up with workable solutions for design flaws and getting hooked on the problem solving itself.|A four-year war between the Ukraine government and breakaway Moscow-backed rebels in its east has left more than 10,000 people dead and strained relations between the West and Russia. As the separatist regions of Donetsk and Lugansk hold elections on Sunday, criticised as a sham by the United States and European countries, here is some background. In February 2014 pro-Russian president Viktor Yanukovych was ousted after massive street protests over his government's shunning of closer ties with the European Union. As a pro-Western government was installed, Russian troops and pro-Moscow forces began seizing ports and cities on the Black Sea peninsula of Crimea in March. Crimean residents, mostly Russian speakers, voted to join Russia in a referendum that Kiev and the West did not recognise. Tensions soared in April when pro-Russian demonstrators seized local government buildings in several towns in industrial eastern Ukraine, including Donetsk and Lugansk.
