Earlier this month, a flyer resurfaced advertising Wright as a speaker at an event hosted by Warnock's historic Ebenezer Baptist Church. Warnock was, in his own words, "dispatched" to defend Wright after a tape of the 2003 sermon emerged during the 2008 campaign. Some Obama advisers worried at the time that the matter might sink his candidacy. In a 2008 appearance on Fox News, Warnock was asked about that speech and other remarks. As recently as March of this year, when his defense of Wright was covered by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Warnock stood by his defense of Wright as well as his own past comments. Wright previously blamed Jews in 2009 for keeping him from talking with Obama after he won the White House. During an interview in November, Warnock pushed back on accusations that he was anti-Semitic as his opponent, Sen. Kelly Loeffler, R-Ga., attempted to tie him to Wright. Warnock told MSNBC's Willie Geist. The Center did not immediately respond to Fox News' request for comment. Fox News' Adam Shaw and the Associated Press contributed to this report. Fans of e-cigarettes say they enjoy many of the same sensations as tobacco smokers -- holding the device in their hand, inhaling and exhaling. Many e-cigarettes have a light-emitting diode (LED) on the end that lights up when the user inhales, simulating flame. The liquid or "smoke juice" that fills the cartridges is usually propylene glycol, an additive that the FDA has approved for use in food. Consumers can buy cartridges containing different amounts of nicotine, or no nicotine at all. Manufacturers usually add flavorings to the liquid. Options range from tobacco and menthol flavor to mint, chocolate, coffee, apple, cherry and caramel. E-cigarette companies sell their products in retail stores, but also, increasingly, online. A wide array of models. Brands are available. Some mimic the appearance of tobacco cigarettes, while others look like cigars, pipes and even pens. Prices vary, ranging from $40 to $120 for a starter kit, which usually includes a charger and a few cartridges along with the e-cigarette.|Video quality assessment (VQA) remains an important. Challenging problem that affects many applications at the widest scales. Recent advances in mobile devices and cloud computing techniques have made it possible to capture, process, and share high resolution, high frame rate (HFR) videos across the Internet nearly instantaneously. Being able to monitor and control the quality of these streamed videos can enable the delivery of more enjoyable content and perceptually optimized rate control. Accordingly, there is a pressing need to develop VQA models that can be deployed at enormous scales. While some recent effects have been applied to full-reference (FR) analysis of variable frame rate and HFR video quality, the development of no-reference (NR) VQA algorithms targeting frame rate variations has been little studied. Here, we propose a first-of-a-kind blind VQA model for evaluating HFR videos, which we dub the Framerate-Aware Video Evaluator w/o Reference (FAVER). FAVER uses extended models of spatial natural scene statistics that encompass space-time wavelet-decomposed video signals, to conduct efficient frame rate sensitive quality prediction.
Electronic cigarettes closely resemble the real thing. You're at your favorite restaurant, enjoying a meal. A diner at the next table is puffing on a cigarette, letting out a cloud of smoke. Because smoking isn't allowed in the restaurant, you're thinking about asking the smoker to put the cigarette out. But before you protest, consider this: Your neighbor may not be smoking at all. Electronic cigarettes, also known as smokeless cigarettes, e-cigarettes, or e-cigs, are an alternative method of consuming nicotine, the addictive chemical found in tobacco. Manufacturers often design e-cigarettes to look like regular cigarettes, but they contain no tobacco and don't require a match -- or any flame at all. There's no fire, no ash and no smoky smell. E-cigarettes do not contain all of the harmful chemicals associated with smoking tobacco cigarettes, such as carbon monoxide and tar. Manufacturers and satisfied customers say the e-cigarette is a healthier alternative to tobacco cigarettes, which cause millions of deaths every year.
POSTSUBSCRIPT should have their internal structure affected by electron-degeneracy as they contract gravitationally after their formation. Those objects should be unable to release enough energy from hydrogen nuclear burning, since their central temperatures begin to decrease after degeneracy proceeds. They should never go through the usual stellar evolution phases, living as ”failed” stars. The theoretical calculations of the two pioneer papers in 1963 marked the birth of brown dwarfs fifty years ago. Following these predictions, the motivation was there for more theoretical calculations and evolutionary models for brown dwarfs Grossman (1970); Straka (1971); Rappaport and Joss (1984), followed by many others. With the discovery of the first genuine brown dwarfs about 20 years ago, (see the chapters by R. Rebolo, G. Basri, and by B. Oppenheimer in this volume), the theory and modelling of brown dwarfs have constantly developed and improved. The first major theoretical challenge was the development of an equation of state (EOS hereafter) appropriate for the description of the dense and relatively cool interior of brown dwarfs, accounting for the effects of electron partial degeneracy and interaction between particles, namely molecules, atoms, ions and electrons (see Chabrier and Baraffe (2000) and references therein).
A water mixture that's super chilled to well below freezing. Once the water freezes, at night when energy demand is low, it's ready to be used to cool the air the next day. This is called charging, and a charged off-peak cooling system takes very little energy to keep cold in stand-by mode until it's ready to be used to cool the air in an office building or home. As the building starts to warm up during the day, the air-conditioning kicks on, and the chilled refrigerant from the off-peak cooling system keeps the building's air cool. The glycol cycles through the ice filled tanks periodically to cool back down after being exposed to the hot air, and eventually, this exchange of hot for cold melts the ice. In the evening, the system charges again, freezing the melted ice with a chiller, and preparing the system for the next hot day. More complex systems can use other forms of refrigerant for cooling or use different design strategies for storing ice.|In May 2011, Americans were surprised by a sudden television appearance by President Barack Obama. He revealed that after a daring raid by U.S. Pakistan, al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden was dead. While the Navy SEAL team that cornered and killed bin Laden became national heroes, another unheralded group played a crucial role in the successful mission. For months leading up to the raid, staffers from the National Security Council (NSC) had organized more than two dozen meetings involving multiple government agencies. In attendance were the NSC's principals, including National Security Adviser Tom Donilon, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Admiral Mike Mullen, Defense Secretary Robert Gates and others. Obama went around the table, asking each adviser for an opinion on the raid, and weighed that information. When a president has to take action, it's crucial to have well-researched policy options on the table, and experts and advisers who can help him pick the best one. Once the decision has been made, it's vital to have someone coordinating the government's various departments and agencies to make sure they work together to achieve it.
