“Money laundering” tops the list of Suspicious Activity Reports tied to crowdfunding websites. Stolen credit cards numbers, for example, are only useful if you can convert all of that credit into cash. Crowdfunding websites, it turns out, provide the perfect laundering platform. The criminal launches a phony crowdfunding campaign. Then makes donations to himself using the stolen credit card numbers. Moving quickly to avoid detection, the crook can cash in the crowdfunding account before anyone catches wind of the scam. A twist on this method is to launch a whole bunch of small crowdfunding campaigns simultaneously using false names and phony IP addresses. Again, the campaigns are funded with stolen credit cards, but the individual amounts are low enough to avoid close scrutiny. In highly sophisticated operations, crowdfunding fraud is also combined with lots of other diversionary tactics to “layer” or “structure” financial transactions in ways that avoid detection. In one case, FinCEN caught wind of a foreign entity that was collecting fund through multi-state cash deposits, foreign checks, and deposits from crowdfunding sites to wire large amounts of money to a “high risk country,” possibly to fund terrorists.
You can watch the following animation to learn more about the basics of sound. Click the arrow to move on to the next slide. Acoustic levitation uses sound traveling through a fluid -- usually a gas -- to balance the force of gravity. On Earth, this can cause objects and materials to hover unsupported in the air. In space, it can hold objects steady so they don't move or drift. The process relies on of the properties of sound waves, especially intense sound waves. We'll look at how sound waves become capable of lifting objects in the next section. A basic acoustic levitator has two main parts -- a transducer, which is a vibrating surface that makes sound, and a reflector. Often, the transducer and reflector have concave surfaces to help focus the sound. A sound wave travels away from the transducer. Bounces off the reflector. Three basic properties of this traveling, reflecting wave help it to suspend objects in midair.|Medical Career is the one that is full of responsibilities with the varied career options encompassed in it. Take the one, while you can go the best of the journey, but the career demands your complete dedication and devotion towards the medical opportunities. Nursing has emerged as one of the most preferred professions in the health care industry. In fact, it is one of its own kinds of a profession that provides you with an ample of opportunities to spend your life helping others. Today, in the present era, there is rarely any other profession like nursing that offers such a challenging yet gratifying mixture of high touch, care, and technology. It is a career that offers both women and men a wide range of alternatives for professional development and the personal satisfaction. Working as a nurse, you may be the key healthcare professional working closely with physicians as an essential part of the patient health care team. Your key role may involve administering an ongoing treatment process and providing cares to make sure the effective and quick recovery of the patient.
FlatWire is thinner than the typical business card. You've seen the commercials: a guy walks into an electronics store, asks about the latest in flat-screen televisions, makes a purchase and hurries home. Before you know it, the happy owner is sitting on his couch watching his television, which he has mounted perfectly on the wall. There's not a cable, cord or wire to be seen. But in reality, that television would require several cables to work the way it does in the ad. It would need a power cord, at the very least. Other cords might include a coaxial cable, an HDMI cable, component or composite video cables and an audio cable. How do you hide all these cables from view so that you have the same picture-perfect setup that you see in commercials? That can be expensive and difficult -- you might want the help of professional installers for that kind of job. And while wireless technologies are a possible solution, there simply aren't enough wireless options on the market to set up the ultimate home theater system.
Despite the fact that considerable development has been achieved in the research of visual object tracking, due to some challenging factors in RGB videos such as background clutter, illumination variation, deformation, occlusion, etc, it is still a challenging task to implement robust tracking. Trying to alleviate the limitation of RGB only devices, various reliable and low-priced RGB-D sensors have been widely accessible recent years. An RGB-D image is comprised of a three-channel RGB image and a single-channel depth map. The videos of these datasets are captured by different kinds of cameras including ToF-RGB pair of cameras, stereo-camera sensor and Kinect sensor. On these datasets, various measurements to evaluate the performance of RGB-D trackers are also proposed. In general, the aim of RGB-D tracking is to track an object of interest with a given initial state in multi-modal RGB-D videos. Besides the challenge of occlusion, the problem of target disappearance and reappearance should also be more manageable in RGB-D tracking datasets.
Take business and economics, for example. The traditional models of economic forecasting used factors such as demographics, government deficits and debt, interest rates, oil prices and employment data to gauge the economy's direction. Businesses then merged these forecasts, along with data related to their own fields, to guide their budgets, hiring and salaries. Enter big data, which channels oceans of up-to-the-minute information to analysts based on the notion that more data is better. But critics have grown increasingly uncomfortable with big data's reach and access. You can run a trend analysis in Microsoft Excel but, without a guiding rationale, what you end up with is likely worse than useless -- it's probably misleading to boot. If you want your forecasts to say something meaningful, you can't just "plug and chug." You must gather good data, make sure it says what you think it says and check that it doesn't contain hidden relationships that will torque your results. You might need to adjust it, too, for inflation or seasonal variations.|Stem cell research has been part of the scientific landscape for decades, and many people have been staying up-to-date with stem cell research as it involves cancer, therapy for Alzheimer's disease and well-known disease conditions such as Huntington's disease and multiple sclerosis. However, scientific research today has exposed a number of cutting-edge stem cell technologies that can be used for lesser-known conditions and disease processes including those that affect vision. In recent stem cell news, iPS cells have been studied in their effectiveness for treating genetic birth defects that cause blindness. Recent news published in the Stem Cells journal announced researchers have created a technology that induces one type of stem cell, called a pluripotent (IPS) stem cell development process that may prove beneficial in the treatment of an uncommon genetic eye disease. This eye disease is called gyrate atrophy, which affects the pigment cells found in retina epithelium cells. These cells are essential in helping the retina process messages received from the retina portion of the eye to the brain, where they are interpreted.
