Kids can dream up some pretty awesome jobs, but can they keep the dream alive when they grow up? If you've ever asked a 5-year-old what she wants to be when she grows up, you'll probably recognize a theme. Astronaut, dancer, poet, princess, unicorn trainer - whatever the answer, it usually sounds like a lot of fun. Fifteen or 20 years later, that sense of fun will likely be trumped by a sense of financial responsibility. It's almost a rite of passage to give up the idea that a grown-up job can be fun. But fun and money aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. To be sure, even in the entertainment industry, Fallon is an anomaly. The jobs in which workers claim to be happiest are far less glamorous, but most pay a decent wage. There are also plenty of jobs that pay next to nothing and are a real drag. And even jobs that once seemed like a lot of fun, once you're in them long enough, can start to feel like work.
The biggest advantage of franchising appears to be the reduction of risk you will be taking for your investment. This is because franchises typically get up and running faster, and are profitable more quickly. This can be a result of better management as well as a well-known name. According to the Small Business Administration (SBA), most small businesses fail because of weak management. It is in this area that the franchising option shines the most. When you lease a franchise, you are leasing that managerial know-how. The often-instant recognition from customers is also a big plus. Customers are dealing with a "known" rather than an "unknown." Think about it: If you are driving through a town you've never visited before and have the choice of a "Billy Bob's Fried Chicken" or a "Kentucky Fried Chicken," which one are you more likely to stop at? Until you know that Billy Bob's is THE place for fried chicken, you may not want to take the chance.|A guitar that works with an iPhone created at the Rick Hanes guitar factory in Sidoarjo, Indonesia. When folks talk music and technology these days, it's often about how advances in sharing and streaming - or at least the business model based on those advances - makes it tough for most hard working bands to earn an honest buck. Although Spotify and Apple Music may be giving artists a hard squeeze, the dawn of the digital age hasn't been all bad for melody makers. Technological breakthroughs have also created a whole new sandbox in which musicians can tinker and tailor new tunes. Just take GarageBand, the Apple software that's helped artists turn their homes into recording studios. The application not only records music, but allows users to lay down different parts of a track separately and then combine them into one song with a wide variety of editing and looping tools.
DVD remastering runs into the same problems. There are viewers who feel that film restoration can go too far, taking away the imperfections of the filmed image that make it unique and alive. What are the differences between mastering and remastering? What tools are used to remaster CDs and DVDs? What do consumers say about the finished product? Read on to find out more. What are the differences between remastering and mastering? Consumers often buy remastered CDs or DVDs that feature classic movies or albums. Every record, CD and MP3 has to be mastered before it's distributed to the public. The master is the final, definitive version of each track that will be copied and printed on millions of CDs and downloaded from Web sites like iTunes. A master is created by a mastering engineer, a special breed of audio engineer who works in a dedicated mastering studio. Mastering engineers are different than studio recording engineers.
Whether you opt for SugarSync or Dropbox really depends on what you want from your storage provider. While both apps have their strong points -- Dropbox offers better security, while SugarSync has a better sharing model -- those looking for easy-to-use file storage are probably best suited with Dropbox; tech-savvy users who need some additional features will probably be happier with SugarSync. Whichever one you choose, you'll have the option to access your files wherever you go. Cloud storage means that you're saving your files to a remote database. That way, you can save and retrieve data from any computer or device with web access -- and you don't have to carry a memory stick or external drive. Check out How Cloud Storage Works to learn more. There's a good chance you've gone paperless with your bags at the grocery store, so why not go paperless with your shopping list?|Remember the whole "going green" thing? What happened to it? Did it die out or are their still some "tree troopers" on the ground keeping the dream alive? Green tech is still alive and well -- at least according to the marketing messages of self-proclaimed green companies. But are technology manufacturers actually adhering to green tech practices or just talking about them? Has the green tech fad morphed from a short-term trend to a long-term way of doing business? Throughout the past decade, the term green tech has been applied to everything from high-yield copy paper to solar powered cars and zero-waste factories. Business and technology sites like Forbes and CNET devote entire channels to green technology news, and there's no shortage of information to report. Of course, there are certain contradictions inherent in the green tech movement on the part of both consumers and marketers. How "green" is it to trade in our perfectly good smartphones every time a new latest-and-greatest version is released, or to leave our multitude of devices plugged into charging stations every night? We still have a long way to go before green manufacturing and sustainable business practices become something we take for granted, like unleaded gasoline or non-smoking flights. Is a zero-carbon, zero-waste, zero car city on the horizon? Is your computer built to break? Electronics Takeback Coalition. "Designed for the Dump." (Sept. EPEAT. "About EPEAT." (Sept. First, gravity is a force that causes objects to attract one another. The simplest way to understand gravity is through Isaac Newton's law of universal gravitation. This law states that every particle in the universe attracts every other particle. The more massive an object is, the more strongly it attracts other objects. The closer objects are, the more strongly they attract each other. An enormous object, like the Earth, easily attracts objects that are close to it, like apples hanging from trees. Scientists haven't decided exactly what causes this attraction, but they believe it exists everywhere in the universe. Second, air is a fluid that behaves essentially the same way liquids do. Like liquids, air is made of microscopic particles that move in relation to one another. Air also moves like water does -- in fact, some aerodynamic tests take place underwater instead of in the air. The particles in gasses, like the ones that make up air, are simply farther apart and move faster than the particles in liquids.
