Looking to short that but trying to pick the right time.
OIP gets touted as a headline to sound amazing and then when reality sets in things nearly always drop.
As the Telegraph put it "A number of industry experts have expressed scepticism about the size of the discovery."
Or listen to this chap who called Afren perfectly and seems to be a serious level investor https://twitter.com/WShak1

Not sure. It's the game of guessing how long the hype lasts. I'd be less thinking of a price and more watching the volume start to dwindle along with the price.

Probably now would be a reasonable time. Levelled off at 3.3ish and volume continuing to drop along with the price (not sure whether I'll risk it though - have to try not to let boredom push me into a decision :p).

They have a professor from Imperial College saying that the UKOG find is in line with their expectations and that the Jurassic formations are expected to be full of oil.

Maybe now is not the time to short but to buy, but what do I know, I'm in RRL.

Everyone oil company there's ever been has had some geologist saying their acreage is the best thing since sliced bread. Nothing new in that respect. Just gets more headlines because it's in the UK and the media never digs any deeper than reporting a sensationalist story.

As I mentioned above, at least the Telegraph added a small section to say "A number of industry experts have expressed scepticism about the size of the discovery."

Do these "Industry experts" have a name ...

Bought a few of these last year, happy to hold them now and see how this story unfolds.

There will be over 1 billion shares traded today, average volume normally around 40 million.

It's worrying when I agree with Ben Turnip:

Waseem Shakoor's posted his view too (who I actually do rate):

Hahaha top man. Just the calibre of analysis that may have led to an offer of employment were Landau still at the helm.

Trance probably means that the shorters have already positioned themselves, plus they will have a max exposure on a share like this.

Exactly Sebastian. If you struggle to maintain the rise with this level of media coverage what is going to support it when that hysteria fades and the spotlight moves on as it always does.

Someone will be getting oil out of Puntland long before anyone gets planning permission to get comparable production out of south of England.

Would have better if it was in the North Sea ! Easier to get to!

I dunno. I wouldn't underestimate the government backing it could get, to push things through, if it really is all it's cracked up to be. Do wonders for energy security and the economy. However the question remains as to how much is really down there and whether it is worth extracting at all. That's the billion dollar question.

Depends who the Government are. Everything will be going downhill if Labour get in.
